Smart Bytes are the optimized payload that ImageEngine delivers whether it is images or other kinds of content. Smart Bytes are GBs delivered, not storage (you can keep images wherever they are today - no uploads necessary!) If you are currently delivering 1 TB of unoptimized image traffic, then if ImageEngine provides a 75% reduction, you would be using 250 GB of Smart Bytes. Yes, really, we reduce cost of your bill and pass the savings on to you monthly.
We charge a variable overage fee based on your current plan. If you regularly exceed your plan limit, then we recommend you speak with our customer success specialists to upgrade to a plan better suited for your traffic needs.
We do not charge based on storage or the number of transformations to your images. We charge based on the optimized image payload we deliver, which is what we call Smart Bytes.
